UrthosTower

Urtho's Tower, also known as Silence Tower, was in the vast Kingdom of Tantara. The Tower was located in the Kaled'a'in homeland of Ka'venusho, in the center of what is now the Dhorisha Plains.

The Tower contained a multitude of workshops, archives and meeting rooms in addition to Urtho's living quarters. In fact, much of the Tower was filled with books and papers, many magically sealed.

The tower became the headquarters of Urtho's fight against Ma'ars attempts to conquer Tantara. Many Gates, including some permanent Gates, allowed his forces to return as needed, far from the front lines.[1] The Tower was surrounded by camps: Field Troops, Relief Troops, Settlers, Refugees, as well as the Gryphon Aeries, the Landing Field, and so on.

When Urtho's death from poisoning by Miranda thorns was assured, he directed that his books and records and magic equipment be taken from the Tower and sent through the Clan k'Leshya evacuation Gates.

Urtho had designed his tower to self-destruct upon his death. It happened shortly after Skandranon detonated Urtho's secret weapon at at Ma'ar's headquarters in the Royal Palace of Tantara. The unforeseen interaction of these two expanding spells of destruction caused the devastating Mage Storms.

A few years after the Cataclysm, the Star-Eyed Goddess charged the Shin'a'in to guard the Dhorisha Plains forevermore, to keep anyone from finding the remains of Urtho's Tower and his secrets.

Millennia later, when the Mage Storms echoed through to the future, the Star-Eyed removed the geas on the Shin'a'in. Assisted by the Leshy'a Kal'enedral, they unearthed the remains of Urtho's workshops and weapons from beneath slabs of rock so that mage teams could search for ways to protect the world from a second Cataclysm.
