Aya is a crested firebird, and the bondbird of the mage Firesong k'Treva. He is unique, as he is the first bondbird of his kind. Firesong specially bred stock using magic to create him, and he suits Firesong's flamboyant style well.
Aya possesses the cardinal ability of all firebirds--the ability to start fires. However, like all bondbirds, he is significantly more intelligent and larger than his parent stock. He is also much calmer and not as flighty as many firebirds are known to be.
Aya is snow-white, and throws off "little false sparks of golden light." His head is as sizeable as other bondbirds, and he has huge, ice-blue eyes.[1]
